In 1992, when Rob sold his award winning Canadian promotional marketing agency, AIM (Active Impression Marketing Inc.), to Maritz Inc., he went on to form Maritz Canada Inc. by successfully combining AIM with four other operating divisions in Canada and leading the company’s financial turnaround. Rob is Chairman Emeritus of Maritz Canada Inc.

Rob is also the founder of Altruvest Charitable Services, a registered Canadian charity founded in 1994. Altruvest is focused on giving capacity building tools to charities for free to increase their charitable capacity to give more of donors’ donations to their good causes. BoardMatch LeadersTM, BoardMatch FundamentalsTM, and BoardWorxTM are programs delivered by Altruvest Charitable Services to support the capacity of charities (www.altruvest.org).

Rob received a Top 40 Under 40 leadership award for the work he had done creating 1,000 new jobs in Canada as well as founding and growing Altruvest Charitable Services – which has given over $1 million a year to charities for over ten years.

During an Advanced Leadership Program at Oxford University’s Templeton College, Rob received an academic sponsorship to do a Ph.D. at Oxford on the concept of and implications for Altruvest. Rob has a BA with distinction from the University of Toronto; an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University; he studied under the not-for-profit management program at UofT/Sheridan College; and earned a Masters from Oxford University’s Saϊd Business School in Advanced Strategy.

Rob moved to the US in 1997 and took on global account strategy, leading global account strategy for clients such as Nortel Networks, Ford Motor Company, and IBM with client service teams in North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia. He sat on the senior executive team as a corporate officer that was responsible for the management of a $3B enterprise and on the council for national account strategy that included the oversight of large accounts including, but not limited to, Microsoft, Dell, HP/Compaq, Toyota Motor Corporation, Nissan Motor Co., General Motors, Bank of America, and Citibank. Rob then took on responsibility for the leadership of Latin American operations out of Mexico City; European operations out of the UK, France, and Germany; and eventually became responsible for all international operations for Maritz as Chairman of Maritz Europa, Maritz Canada, and Maritz Latin America.

In combining his education, ten years of entrepreneurial leadership, and his fifteen years of international corporate experience and ultimately leading over 2,000 employees with over $750M in revenue – as well as his passion for helping people live their vision – Rob launched STS Capital Partners in the USA, Canada, Mexico, and the UK.

Rob and his wife Katrina became the first couple from the Americas to climb the seven highest summits (including Mt. Everest) on each of the seven continents of the world and the first in history to get engaged, married, and have their honeymoon on three of the seven summits. The objective of the climb was to raise awareness for the good work that Altruvest is doing as well as to raise $1M of seed capital for an endowment to ensure that Altruvest can continue to give tools to charities for many generations to come (www.altruvest.org).

As a proponent of strategic philanthropy, Rob enjoys working with clients who may be interested in selling all or part of their firms to move their focus from Success in their lives to whatever Significance may be for them. Rob is committed to encouraging philanthropy and altruism and speaks publicly on the subject of “Giving in Your Life Plan…Giving in Your Business Plan” to encourage more creative and abundant philanthropy.
